They operate reliably across a wide operating temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C , offer Zero Packet Loss™ technology under high electromagnetic interference (EMI), seamless failover with HSR/PRP redundant topologies and enhanced Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (eRSTP™) for ultra-high-speed network fault recovery. Real-time control applications using IP networking technology require higher immunity to EMI (Electro-Magnetic Interference) than enterprise or industrial networking devices offer. RUGGEDCOM devices are designed to pass all IEC 61850-3 EMI tests without communication loss or delays and qualify as IEEE 1613 class 2 error-free devices. This innovation is Zero Packet Loss™ technology, that enables RUGGEDCOM devices to offer the same EMI immunity as protective relays, making them ideal for harsh environments.

RUGGEDCOM devices are equipped with a variety of advanced cybersecurity features. Some of these include multilevel user passwords, SSH/SSL (128/256-bit encryption), enable/disable ports, 802.1X port security, VLAN (802.1Q) to segregate and secure network traffic, RADIUS centralized password management, as well as SNMPv3 authentication and IPsec and MACsec encryption. Furthermore, they enable the deployment of advanced cybersecurity software right to the edge of your network.

Stress tests like the Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT), Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS) and Temperature and Humidity Stress Screening (THSS) are performed on RUGGEDCOM products. This eliminates design weaknesses and ensures that you get products free of manufacturing errors and random defects. RUGGEDCOM products are thus able to provide reliable and error-free operation throughout their long product lifecycle, even in harsh industrial environments.

Critical infrastructure communications demand high-availability and cannot tolerate downtime of even a few milliseconds. RUGGEDCOM offers solutions for fault-tolerant networks that maximize network availability in case of a failure. The HSR/PRP (High-availability Seamless Redundancy and Parallel Redundancy Protocol ensure zero network downtime in case of a single point of failure. RUGGEDCOM devices also support eRSTP (enhanced Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol) that ensures faster recovery than the standard RSTP protocol.
